Redesigning the covers of my favourite novel, Shogun, which was first published in 1975.
I want to give it a more elegant and royalty look which reflects the rank title of Shogun (General). I chose this image of a Samurai armour as it fits the main character, Lord Toranaga, who is not simply a military general but a political leader as well. One that would unify the country and forever change the history of Japan. I create a gold text to match the Kabuto (Helmet).
I use three different images of the Samurai, Castle and Mount Fuji, while using the same background for a sense of continuity, while adding in some dark clouds effects to reflect the gloomy political situation as a civil war is brewing which signals the dark times ahead. And in this darkness, is a shiny symbol of hope, in the form of a gold armoured Shogun.
